The Gillford Centre is a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Carlisle, providing high-quality alternative education for young people across Key Stages 1 to 4. We support pupils who are unable to attend mainstream schools due to a variety of social, emotional, behavioural, or medical needs—offering a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where every young person is given the opportunity to succeed.

Our provision is tailored, inclusive, and firmly rooted in our school vision: Inspiring Children, Changing Lives for a Brighter Future. Whether a pupil is with us for a short period or a longer-term placement, our aim is always the same—to help them re-engage with learning, develop essential life skills, and feel a renewed sense of confidence and purpose.

At The Gillford Centre, we offer small group teaching, therapeutic support, and personalised learning plans to meet the individual needs of each pupil. We work closely with families, schools, and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to education, care, and transition.
